I know exactly what I'll be doing this weekend.

Ugh. I've been sick again. Is that all I post about? Sorry. I'll tell you something I'm excited for, though! Sitting around my house in my PJs with my family this weekend watching the 181st Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (that's the church I attend, if you didn't know). So what IS General Conference? Basically members of the LDS church from around the world come together to be inspired, taught, and edified by our leaders. Since we don't live near the conference center in Salt Lake City, we'll be watching from our computers at home. It's broadcast online and on TV all over the world, and not just for members of the LDS church. The message is absolutely universal. And Conference always comes at a time when I really need to be uplifted, reassured, and loved. Good timing! If you want to learn more, visit HERE.
Last week was the General Relief Society conference session (aka "just for the ladies"). My favorite talk so far? Find it HERE. I can't wait for more...

Brow wows

I had a reader ask recently about brow upkeep. So I thought I would post a few tips. Personally, I just pluck my brows. I pluck right out of the shower for easier maintenance. But I have done threading in the past, and it is a great, affordable alternative, as well. I also use a brow brush daily. Try Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel for a quick fix that involves sheer color. Or try the Anastasia Brow Wiz, which is nice because it includes a pencil to fill in your brows if needs be:

Also, I trim my brows every month for a cleaner look. I brush them up and trim the edges. Then brush them down and do the same. What's your brow routine?

While you're here, check out this great video on brow care:

Miss Maya on the loose

I've been a bit under the weather again. So Maya has pretty much taken over the place. Her true personality is really coming out. I love it. :)

The Many Moods of Pantone: Tribute to 9/11 with "Infinity" + a Freebie

I've been wanting to do another mood board based on Pantone's Colorstrology. And as the ten year anniversary of 9/11 approached, I hoped for a color that might pay the right tribute to such a significant event in our nation's recent history. So today's Pantone Mood Board color is the very fitting "Infinity" blue. I couldn't believe it. (I was also amazed when I found an infinity ring created especially for 9/11!) The keywords associated with this color are "Hardworking, Complex, Beautiful." Take a look below to see what Pantone's Infinity has inspired. And don't forget to download the free print at the end of the post.

Styling the Smooth & Sleek Pixie 'Do

I'm back with another hair tutorial! Almost as soon as I had posted the first, I got a request for the smooth & sleek hairdo that involves a little adornment. So I thought I would oblige. :) Also, I had a few questions about my makeup. Click on my makeup bag in my sidebar to see what I use daily. I added a new eyeshadow that I love in that post. So click on over if you're interested.

Finn's First!

It was a BIG day for Finn today! First day of school ever. He loved it. I loved it. Maya...not so much. She was not happy about the new arrangement. But Finn was a champ! He alerted the teachers that he needed to say a prayer before lunch, but he would try saying it in his heart. ;) Then he impressed everyone with his ability to already write his name very clearly, plus some letters. And finally he ate his ham sandwich BEFORE his fruit snacks. That's my boy!

Finn requested a pirate patch on his back pack. I delivered.

Styling the Spiky Pixie 'Do

I had quite a few requests from other pixies as to how I style my short hair. So I thought I'd begin with my every day style, the Spiky Pixie. Check out the video below if you want to see how it's done, in under 10 minutes. (It's actually faster, seeing as I usually don't talk to my mirror every day when I'm getting ready.) See how many times you can catch me saying "crispy." Sheesh. :)
